On Wednesday, December 17, a public meeting titled “Agroecology and Italian Cooperation: an ongoing challenge?” will be held in Rome, promoted by the Azione TerrAE Coalition together with FOCSIV, under the patronage of AOI.
Representatives from institutions, international cooperation, academia, and civil society will gather on Wednesday, December 17, at the Engim headquarters in Rome for the public meeting “Agroecology and Italian Cooperation: an ongoing challenge?”, promoted by the Azione TerrAE Coalition together with FOCSIV, under the patronage of AOI (Association of Italian NGOs).
The initiative aims to contribute to the debate on agroecological transition as a key element in transforming food systems, with particular attention to the role of international cooperation and the experiences gained in West African countries.
During the day, a dialogue will be encouraged among key actors from the Italian and international arena on policies and programs related to agroecology, with the goal of sharing experiences, results, and insights to help guide future actions and strengthen collective commitment to the transition of food systems.
Among the participants will be the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, the Directorate General for Development Cooperation, organizations and networks such as Link 2007 and the Senegalese network Dytaes, foundations including Fondazione Cariplo and Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, as well as international actors such as FAO, IFAD, and CIHEAM Bari.
Academic and research institutions will also contribute, in particular the Interdepartmental Center for Research and Technical-Scientific Cooperation with Africa at the University of Turin (CISAO), together with the Italian Coordination of Diasporas (CIDCI) and numerous other actors engaged in agroecology and food systems, including Reti Semi Rurali and ASes (Farmers Solidarity and Development).
The morning will be dedicated to institutional and technical presentations, while the afternoon will feature a roundtable moderated by the Azione TerrAE Coalition, designed as a space for dialogue and discussion on financing the agroecological transition, local food policies, and messages from major international initiatives.
The closing session will focus on identifying shared recommendations and future perspectives.
